Dana Terrace has made many accomplishments throughout her life that have made differences in people and the field of animation. Here are a few important ones.
Acceptance into SVA
Dana Terrace gets accepted into the School of Visual Art in New York in 2009 where she would pursue her passion in drawing and begin to become a well-known and accomplished artist.
Film Awards
During her time in and out of SVA, Dana Terrace got lots of praise from others and many awards for creating and assisting with the creation of short films.
One example of these short films would include a short film Terrace created titled "Kickball" that was praised for it's design and expressive motion. This short film also won Dana Terrace a grant from the National Board of Review.
Another example would be a short film titled "Mirage" that Dana Terrace worked on with Iker Madigan. The two were awarded an Alumni Scholarship Award for this film which was shown at the LA Shorts Fest.
The last example of a film that
Dana Terrace worked on won a Dusty Award for "Outstanding Traditional Animation and Achievement in Traditional Animation Character Design". This film is titled "Blenderstein" which Terrace and a few others helped Zach Bellissimo create.
The Creation of The Owl House
After she finished school, Dana Terrace worked many jobs in the animation/filmmaking industry and had decided that she wanted to bring an idea she had in the past to life.
Dana terrace pitched the idea for The Owl House later on. When her idea got green-lit and got the go-ahead from Disney, they started developing the show. During this development phase, Dana Terrace wanted to include LGBTQ+ representation in a normalized way, but was told that she couldn't have any type of LGBTQ+ representation. Of course, Terrace couldn't give up. She kept fighting until she was given the all-clear, which resulted in an impactful show that helps young people who don't quite fit in feel safe and proud of who they are.
“Because us weirdos have to stick together. And nobody should be punished for who they are!”
– Luz Noceda in The Owl House season 1 episode
Coming Out
During the time that Dana Terrace was figuring out her new show, she came out to the public as bisexual. This was significant because not only did she create a show that inspires and impacts many, but she came out. This was a very brave act that inspire many and work towards making many more feel safe and proud of who they are.
